Vesseling Practice Session

  • Zoom Anishinaabe Aki Detroit, MI 48221 United States (map)

Join us for a contemplative practice of “vesseling” as a means of holding a clear, strong, and relational container for experience. In his book In the Absence of the Ordinary, Frances Waller describes what he calls “the art of vesseling,” tending to containment for the alchemical process of transformation which requires clarity, strength, and relationality. He writes, “The vessel, strengthened by our attention and devotion, becomes capable, over time, of containing it all. In fact, that is one of the central goals of the work. It is not about resolving our issues or repairing the past but becoming more spacious and capable of holding all that psyche and life bring to us.”

This practice is suitable for any level of mindful presence experience. The only thing that you will need is a quiet place where you can gift yourself freedom from distraction for the duration of our time together. This vesseling practice is a guided process with lots of space for each practitioner to deepen into their experience as it emerges. Participants are asked to remain muted for the duration of practice, with time at the end for questions and discussion.
