Taurus Full Moon

Today’s full moon in Taurus is a supermoon, meaning that the Moon is close to its perigee, or closest point to Earth in its orbit during its full moon phase. Appearing bigger and brighter, a supermoon also has an even greater gravitational pull on the tides than usual. Are you feeling it? The human body is roughly 45-60% water, as newborns we are very watery and lose some precious moisture as we age (another reason that Saturn, the planet associated with aging, is considered dry elementally). As elemental beings, the water in our bodies responds to the gravitational pull of the Moon much like the tides.

In the midst of the volatile astrology we’ve been experiencing, this moment of swell alongside disruptive breakthroughs of good trouble feel like riding a wave. The earthy, nourishing support of the Taurus supermoon reminds us that we need to root into the wins we that reinforce the impact of our collective power, the Moon in the sign of its exaltation encourages tending to the body, both the personal and the collective. The ruler of this Moon, Venus, is in the culminating degrees of her justice-seeking air domicile of Libra before entering Mars-ruled Scorpio tomorrow. Venus’ earthy home of Taurus will soon be revisited by revolutionary disruptor Uranus, reentering by retrograde on Friday to finish up upheavals there that began in 2018 around Taurusean themes of land, food, and material security. Recent mobilization to extend SNAP benefits through government shutdown, and expanding mutual aid, are glimpses of collective organizing around food security which are likely sites of struggle in the coming months.

Meanwhile Mars in Sagittarius, hot off the heels of its opposition to Uranus, is gaining on Mercury as it is poised to station retrograde at the end of this week. The two will meet on Tuesday November 12th, a hallmark of potentially impulsive and volatile “fighting words.” Taking this time to sink into relational connection and break bread can fortify for the days to come.

A moment of culmination, the Taurus Moon amplifies and illuminates themes that have been building in the transpersonal field. Cultivating, growing, sustaining resources for material security. May all beings be fed, may all beings be safe, may all beings have what they need.
